Treat your 9 to 5 like a Side Chick
And chase your main chick (your dreams)
My friend is approaching the end of her 7 week full time gig. She dreaded starting it way before it even began and very much during the duration of the 7 weeks.
She is pursuing a career in the Entertainment Production Industry and has been fighting an uphill battle since graduating to get over her resentment of 9 to 5 job commitments and working for someone else rather than herself.
Her issues with not wanting to work a 9 to 5 are understandable.
But the gig she is about to finish is great for her for 3 reasons…
- It’s a good resume padder (not a lot of opportunities in Production)
- She has something to talk about for future interviews
- She’s getting a steady (7 week) paycheck
Yet, despite these reasons she still cannot appreciate it.
Why?
Because she’s not looking at this gig as a puzzle piece of her bigger picture.
She’s treating this 7 week gig as something permanent. As and end all be all.
