Last week my mom called me while I was at the gym.

‘Why aren’t you back yet! Are you planning on being there the whole night?’ she said to me upset.

I guess it was too late to be out while living under my parent’s roof. I guess you could say 9:45 PM is too late to be out for a 22 year old. I guess you could say it’s hard for parents to treat their children as adults. I guess you could say any of that but I would say dealing with this is cheaper than paying rent.

The truth is, I love living at home. I love how my mother makes delicious, healthy food 3x a day. I love how she jokes around and laughs in the kitchen. I love how she tells me about her friends. I love how she gives me hugs and kisses before she goes to bed. I love how I can hear her on the phone gossiping with her friends. I love the comfort of still living at home.

Maybe it means I have a few less freedoms like not being able to stay out late, see whoever I want whenever I want, and basically do what I want, but it DEFINITELY outweighs having to pay around $1500 in rent every month.

Most Americans can’t afford that much in rent and I certainly would like to save as much money as I can before moving out so I can achieve some personal…
